„UL“ certified synchronous servomotors

Again Merkes GmbH can report on the good side:

The motor series MH2-MH5 and MT2-MT8 are allowed to be labelled with the UL symbol when using UL approved components.

Due to technical reasons the motors MH0 and MT1 are for the time being excluded hereof.

Our technicians are intensively working on an enhancement of the authorization.

Using the UL symbol has strings attached, which we like to explain in a few words: 

1. Our motors have two identification plates. One name plate shows our logo and the UL symbol.
   A second name plate shows the type designation which we have defined for the production process. Also this rating plate has the UL symbol on it.
2. UL can be used for the above mentioned types, with or without 24 V holding brake as an option, resolver or encoder feedback systems. Termination technique has to be done with Intercontec connectors size 1 or 1,5. Use of the UL is excluded for cable or other termination techniques.
3. Use of the UL symbol requires the utilization of certified components and additional insulating materials. Unfortunately these actions are cost-intensive and time consuming. They increase the production costs. We therefore had to decide to handle the UL feature as an option. Our motors are therefore available with and without UL approval.
4. As the UL feature and its symbol is an option we included it with our price list at a reasonable amount of money.

We achieved the objective to be able offering our customers UL certified servomotors. This option is available as from now on. We will include it with the same diligence and reliability as all other options.

We are sure that our customers can now use the motors for more explicit fields of application
